The Prince of Wales Theatre in London is currently showing the musical Mamma Mia! based on the hit songs of the legendary Swedish band ABBA. A tale of a sole mother handling with her daughter's marriage and her own relationships is built around the collection of ABBA songs. More than 30 million people all over the world have fall in love with the musical characters, the tale and the melody that make Mamma Mia! the ultimately entertaining show. The story-telling magic of ABBA's eternal songs drives this charming tale of love, hilarity and companionship, and each night everyone is having the time of their lives! Amongst the songs are such familiar '70s clips as "Dancing Queen", "Knowing Me, Knowing You", "S.O.S.", "Take a Chance on Me" and "The Winner Takes It All".
The Prince of Wales Theatre in London was opened in 1886. Since then it presented a number of mimed pieces, but was best known for musicals and comic operas such as Miss Hook of Holland (1907), Broadway Jones (1914) and Carminetta (1917). From 1932 the theatre became known as London's Folies Bergere. It presented a series of risqué revues, advertised as having some 'gasp-making scenes and blush-making costumes'. Today the Prince of Wales theatre is owned by the Delfont Mackintosh Theatres.
