Piccadilly Theatre in London
The Piccadilly Theatre in London's West End is currently showing the smash-hit musical Grease with television star Ray Quinn for a limited season. This West End theatre features over 1,000-seat auditorium and was first opened in 1928 with Jerome Kern's musical Blue Eyes. It then starred Evelyn Laye, one of the most acclaimed actresses of that period. The theatre has also operated as a cinema and the London Casino in the 1930s, but was later bombed during World War II. The Piccadilly has played host to stars like Henry Fonda, Judi Dench and many others.
The most recent production at the London Piccadilly Theatre was Guys and Dolls, the Donmar Warehouse production and until Jan 2010 the Piccadilly Theatre in London will be showing Grease with the winner of ITV's Dancing on Ice - Ray Quinn.
