The 23rd of June to the 6th of July is gong to be a very busy period for the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club at London. This club organizes the annual Wimbledon tennis championship every year during the last week of June and the first week of July - and tickets sell like hot cakes!The grounds to the club will be opened at 10.30 a.m. every morning. Play is expected and scheduled to begin on courts 2 to19 at noon reportedly for the first 8 days and thereafter at 11.00 every morning for the Junior matches on the middle Saturday and during the second week of the tournament.
Play will start at 1:00 P.M. on Court No. 1 with an exception to the final days when play is scheduled to begin at 2:00 P.M.
The first rounds of the Ladies' and Men's Singles and Men's, Ladies' and Mixed Double matches will be played on all courts of the club. The top seeds' matches will be played on the 'show' courts. Some of the Junior matches are also scheduled to be played on the Show Courts.
The draft of the daily matches is prepared the previous evening by the Referee and submitted to the Order of Play Committee for their approval or possible amendment. This committee makes all efforts to schedule the potentially attractive matches on courts that have the maximum accommodation for spectators. However, the potentially good players, the ones that show potential to go far in the tournament, are also given an opportunity to play their matches on the Show Courts.
