There are so many inhibitions in life and one of them is not being able to burst impromptu into an song in public at will. Here is a unique show specially conceived for all those who have a repressed urge to do so. At the year long Sing-a-long-a Sound of Music show at the Prince Charles Cinema, at 7 Leicester Place, London WC2, there are no rules to follow. Young or old, all music lovers can exercise their vocal chords to the fullest and have a roaring time singing their favourite songs from the 1965 Julie Andrews classic, The Sound of Music. This show, a part of London's musical events will be on till 31st December 2008.The Sing-a-long-a show involves wearing a wimple fashioned out of chintz curtains just like in the movie. The Von Trapp family and a Julie Andrews look-alike ensure that you and the other audience nuns have a fabulous evening. The pre-show starts with a 30 minute film during which the host helps you through a vocal warm up, introduces some special moments in the film and gives each one a free goody bag full of fun props to use at the apt moments.
This is followed by the "Mother Superior" judging and giving away prizes for the fancy dress contest. Once the movie starts, all hell breaks loose with the audience expected to whip up a vocal frenzy with unforgettable numbers such as "These are a few of my favourite things", "Do-Re-Mi" and "I am sixteen going on seventeen". The songs appear with subtitles to help you along with the lyrics and the real fun begins!
