Walking through Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens on a pleasant Summer's day or evening it is easy to overlook the effort that has gone into each year's new design of the Serpentine Pavilion Gallery. This year the temporary structure has been designed by Frank Gehry - best known for the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao, Spain - and follows on from last year's spiralling snail's shell design by Olafur Eliasson and Kjetil Thorsen. The objective is to create an innovative and unique architectural design at the centre of Europe's largest city centre open space and Frank Gehry joins an illustrious list of architects who have undertaken the task that started with Zaha Hadid in 2000. One qualification that makes Serpentine Pavilion project unusual is that the chosen architect must not have completed any building anywhere else in England, at the time of being invited to undertake the project, thus hopefully ensuring that U.K. visitors see a style that they will not see elsewhere in the country.Visiting Serpentine Pavilion London:
