Royal Windsor Horse Show
May 2009 (annual)Windsor Castle, Windsor Castle, Berkshire, SL4 1NG

The Royal Windsor Horse Show was founded in 1943, as some distraction from the war effort, and was attended by King George VI. Strong royal connections endure with a Royal Family who loves horses - Queen Elizabeth, the Princess Royal and the Duke of Edinburgh have each previously competed and the Queen still often enters her own horses for the event. For only the second time in its history, the Royal Windsor Horse Show will be taking place inside the private grounds of Windsor Castle - a striking area of garden and parks. Events include show-jumping, carriage racing, dressage and polo and attract the A-Z of British aristocracy to compete or simply to watch. In the evening, Windsor castle will be floodlit, creating a wonderfully grandiose backdrop to the competition. Events finish n style with a superb firework display above the castle's turrets.Visiting Royal Windsor Horse Show 2009:
