The Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition is open to anybody to submit their artistic efforts to the selection panel, who then sort through around 12,000 pieces from well known artists and near unknowns alike. This makes the exhibition particularly interesting and full of surprises in the gallery where, hanging in very close proximity to get in as many as possible, the works seem to jostle for each visitor's attention. Once you have managed to choose a favourite, you even have the chance to buy it. This is an exceptional chance for relative unknown artists to gain a place on the walls of the Royal Academy and a rare chance for visitors to walk away with a favourite piece. The Summer Exhibition dates from the middle of the 18th century and ranks as the largest regular contemporary art exhibition globally.Visiting Royal Academy Summer Exhibition:
