The London International Mime Festival 2013 will see professional actors performing at various venues in central London. Barbican, Southbank Centre and other sites will play host to performances and various acting workshops. After the shows, organised discussions will take place.
The first London International Mime Festival was held back in 1977 and showcased the work of visual theatre artists. The London Mime Festival's success prompted funding from The Cockpit Theatre with the support of the Arts Council of Great Britain.
The London International Mime Festival '13 will offer 18 days of theatrical performances. The line-up for 2013 has yet to be decided but last year featured Tomas Kubinek, a multi-talented entertainer and self-styled 'doctor of dramatic diversions and curer of melancholia'. A wordless version of the Oedipus myth was brought by the Ex Machina Athens from Greece, Sharmanka from Russia/UK showed the Gothic Circus and other performances were available to those interested in mime performances.
The London International Mime Festival is great for everyone fascinated in theatre, dance, art and performance. Each event in central London will allow audiences to interpret the performance through their own personal experience.
