If you wonder what the word Mela means, it comes from the sanskrit "to meet". It usually describes large gathering of people for a particular reason - artistic, political or religious. Melas are feasts of sights, smells, sounds and tastes and often markets, folk troupes, music and dance. Mela Festivals are usually days for the whole family and friends.

London Mela 2009 at the Gunnersbury Park will present a range of Asian entertainment elements. It is worth seeing their great dance performances, let children enjoy their specially-designed activities as well as various sport events and a carnival-style closure.
