Undoubtedly London's most successful fringe theatre, Donmar Warehouse events have become noted for the fact that their popularity means nobody other than members can get entrance tickets. To address the problem, Donmar Warehouse are launching a season of productions at Wyndham's Theatre in Charing Cross Road, were the capacity is a respectable 750, giving the general public a racing chance of seeing some of these very popular productions.

Chekov's 'Ivanov' makes for a challenging opening to the season, given the complexity of the story, which depicts a landowner of a certain age who finds his life so boring he loses the inclination to keep going. 'Ivanov' is generally recognised as a particularly difficult work from Chekov, who became known as the "Russian Shakespeare".

This new production of 'Ivanov' features some well known names - the production benefits from a new translation from the original Russian by Tom Stoppard, Kenneth Branagh plays the disaffected landowner and the production is directed by Michael Grandage. Such is the popularity of Donmar Warehouse productions, that early booking is very strongly recommended.
