It is hard to think of a more quintessentially British summer event than Henley Royal Regatta. This historic event really began its life with the Tudor love of boating on the River Thames and continues annually up to now on one of the loveliest stretches of the River Thames and set in an unspoilt village by the river that is now home to many of society. Despite its basis in history, Henley Regatta in its present form has been running "only" since 1839 - changing from a small, local event to a major international sporting event, featuring crews at an international level and is televised worldwide. Some of the original features of the event continue - the draw still take works on a knock-out basis with only two boats fighting it out in each heat. Over the five days of Henley Regatta, nineteen events take place with 6 classes of race for Eights and Aces for Coxless Pairs and for Double Sculls. This is a chance to watch top sportspeople battle it out in some of the loveliest riverside scenery in the U.K.Visiting Henley Royal Regatta 2009:
