Eltham Palace has an extensive history and is probably best known for being home to the boy Henry VIII and later to the Courtauld family. However, Eltham after the Courtaulds 2008 exhibition concentrates on a 40 year period of time when the palace was a home to the Royal Army Education Corps (RAEC).This exhibition will take you back in time to when RAEC were living at Eltham and enjoying the lavish interiors of the palace. The officer's bedroom presented in the style of the 1960s will give you a sense of the contrast between the Army life and the glamour of the headquarters itself.
A combination of medieval royalty and Art Deco style, Eltham Palace is a masterpiece of twentieth-century design and the new Eltham after the Courtaulds 2008 exhibition presents it in a new light offering an invaluable insight into this important period of post-war history.
