Bonfire Night in London, also called Guy Fawkes Night or Fireworks Night in London, is a long-established London festival dating back 400 years ago. On the 5th November and the subsequent weekend, several venues and parks across the capital will come alive with fireworks and bonfires at the early night.
Bonfire Night, Fireworks Night or Guy Fawkes Night in London will see firework displays, processions, funfairs and festivals all over London. Clapham Common, Victoria Park, Alexandra Palace and Ravenscourt Park will host some of the most impressive and breathtaking fireworks displays in London. Alongside Bonfire Night in London, there will be the fireworks finale to mark the newly appointed Lord Mayor. A spectacular display on the River Thames will fire over half a tonne of eye-catching fireworks and can be seen from miles around.
Do you remember the 5th of November? Gunpowder, treason and plot! - Guy Fawkes Night in London or Bonfire Night evoke the time in 1605, when a terrorist group, led by ruthless Guy Fawkes, tried to destroy the Houses of Parliament whilst the King and MPs were all inside. The plot was foiled, the men were caught and executed, and to this day Londoners celebrate the fact that the Houses of Parliament still stand. Well most of them anyway (!)
On Bonfire Night in London, people create the dummy of Guy Fawkes and burn it on a top of a bonfire, accompanied by beautiful fireworks filling the sky.
