As we all know, during Spring and Summer butterflies come out of their cocoons and flutter around. During this period, there is a special exhibition at the natural History Museum, which allows your children to live through the life cycle of the butterfly. They enter the maze - on the East Lawn of the Natural History Museum - as a caterpillar and, escaping the challenges of poisonous plants and predators along the way, emerge as butterflies, collecting special stamps as they go. The journey ends at the butterfly house, where your children can see living tropical butterflies from Africa, America and Asia.
If your children take to what they have seen, they can join in the Butterfly Monitoring Scheme. This calls for volunteers to monitor the number and types of butterflies along a two to four kilometer route.
