Car Parks in London

Parking Meters

Parking meters are available in most central London streets. The car parking bay is marked out (there is also a residents-only parking, so don't get confused). It is easy to use the meter as it indicates the time you can use the dedicated space as well as how much you have to pay and when. Car parks in London are usually free after 18.30.

Before you park your car, always make sure that it is the dedicated car parking space otherwise your car will be clamped! Even when you need to leave your car just for a few minutes, be cautious as it doesn't take long to have a clamp attached to one wheel of a car. In case you are unfortunate, the label will be attached to your car informing you where to pay. You might be able to pay in person or by credit card over the phone. It will cost you around £50 to get your car released and you will also be fined £40-£50 for parking in the wrong place...

London Car Parks

National Car Parks (NCPs) in London are probably the most used. You can find them in the area and they charge reasonable (for London) car parking fees. Often car parks in London are situated close to British Rail train stations. You can easily find your closest car park by simply following street signs which have a white 'P' on a blue background.

If you contact NCP they will send you a free copy of their booklet listing all their car parks in London. Their contact details are as follows:

NCP - Sales & Marketing Department
19-27 Young Street, W8 5EH.
Phone: +44 (0)20 7499 7050
