The Portobello Road Market in Trendy Notting Hill
London, England, January 2, 2008
On one lazy Saturday, I wanted to get an early bird advantage at London's famous antiques market on Portobello Road
in Notting Hill
. It was an enjoyable walk when stalls were being set up with each one springing up with surprise treasures of history. I do not have an eye for bargains, but the buzz in Notting Hill was enough to charge me up. The market stalls and shops displayed astonishing variety of antiques from all around the world, right from Roman era. There were cafes where one could sip a coffee and give second thought to a bargain that he or she wanted to buy.
I enjoyed multi cultural flavor of Notting Hill by sitting at a street cafe, after spending couple of hours in the market. It was getting busier, with people milling around in frenzy to shop not only antiques but second hand clothes and exotic eatables also. Notting Hill is termed as trendy because of its cafes and restaurants, its market and boutique shops, its pubs and bars. It has so much to offer!
For a traveler large number of Notting Hill hotel accommodation options are available, whatever be your budget! If you stay elsewhere in London, Notting Hill is very easily reached by London tube
from anywhere in London.
