Hyde Park has an extensive history of mass demonstrations and protests. The Suffragettes, the Chartists and the Stop The War Coalition have all held their protests here. Hyde Park was also the site of The Great Exhibition in the 1850s. Today many open air concerts take place at the London Hyde Park and attract thousands of spectators.
Within walking distance to the park, the beautiful Notting Hill, Queensway and Bayswater areas open new views to the visitors. On the other side you will find inviting Madame Tussauds and Sherlock Holmes museums by the historic Baker Street tube station.
Across Hyde Park in Kensington, you can easily walk to Natural History, Victoria & Albert and Science Museums.
Hyde Park Corner entrance is a magnificent piece of art. With impressive columns and two foot entrance, the Grand Entrance looks truly amazing. The Apsley House, which is a home to the Duke of Wellington, is next to the Hyde Park Corner entrance.
This London park is a home to some interesting places. The memorial for Diana, Princess of Wales is there as well as the London's Holocaust Memorial. Speakers' Corner close to Marble Arch is a place to listen to all kinds of free speeches. Serpentine lake with swans in the centre of the park offers a peaceful retreat.
