Film is Electrifying at the Electric Cinema in Notting Hill
One of London's best kept secrets is the Electric Cinema in Notting Hill
. The cinema is housed in a restored auditorium with stunning interiors, leather seating, footstools and tables for food and drink. The leather seats are divine. There is enough room to spread out and get comfortable, unlike most cinemas. And if you're looking for a little romance you could always book the two 2-seater sofas at the back of the theatre.
Wine, beer, spirits and champagne are on offer 30 mins before the features start at the bar and if you are peckish you may be enticed by hummus and flat bread, sausage rolls or cheese and crackers - not your typical cinema snacks so not for everyone.
With only one screen, you do have to check the programme before going and it is best to book in advance. The programme changes regularly and includes a selection of art house, mainstream and classic films. The more mainstream films playing are Up in the Air staring George Clooney, The Informant with Matt Damon, and It's Complicated with Meryl Streep, Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin. Even the latest Guy Ritchie's flick Sherlock Holmes is showing in February.
For parents with babies under 1 year old, Electric Scream! is a film screened exclusively for parents and carers so they can enjoy full-length features without having to worry about disturbing others.
The Electric Cinema in Notting Hill is an experience worth having. It brings back the joy of a night out at the movies!
Ticket prices range from £7.50 - £12.50 for the first 3 rows which have no footstools and between £10 and £14.50 for seats with footstools. And for the lovers, the 2 seater sofas cost £25 - £30. For further information visit www.electriccinema.co.uk
