Welcome in the Chinese year of the Rabbit in London this year. London will be coming alive 3rd to 6th February as the Chinese New Year celebrations get underway, one of the largest events outside Asia.
Based on lunar and solar calendars, every year the Chinese calendar is symbolised by one of the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac, with this year being the year of the Rabbit, Chinese New Year '11 in London.
The Chinese year of the Rabbit in 2011 takes place on 3rd February with many celebrations taking place in London restaurants and within the Chinese community. The main celebration of Chinese New Year '11 in London will take place on Sunday 6th February in Trafalgar Square, Leicester Square and Chinatown. Celebrations will include stalls, special decorations, food and the infamous street entertainment with music, dancing, acrobatics, firecrackers, Chinese dragons and lions.
In Shaftesbury Avenue there will be Chinese artists performing on stage also.
The Chinese New Year celebrations are free to see in Trafalgar Square and Chinatown so join in the fun and welcome the Chinese year of the Rabbit in London.
