British Museum
The British Museum in London is so vast and so full of fascinating objects that you can get carried away with the mysterious ancient world. The admission is free and there are plenty of information leaflets to help you tour the museum. Audio tours are available for one day visitors to help them see the highlights of the museum.
The British Museum is sectioned into departments. The Ancient Egypt is probably the most visited one - it illustrates every aspect of the cultures of the Nile Valley, from the Neolithic period (c. 10 000 BC) until the twelfth century AD. Whether you love history or you don't, there is a bit for everyone. Full descriptions are given for every object so it is also a great chance to review your knowledge or discover new things.
Department of Greek and Roman antiques is also extensive. It features over 1,000 objects from the Classical world, ranging from the beginning of the Greek Bronze Age.
Departments of Asia, Middle East, Africa and Americas present ancient and historical civilizations in a beautiful collection of historical treasures.
There are always new exhibitions adding to the value of the museum accordingly. 'Hadrian: Empire and Conflict' that will exhibit on the 24 July - 26 October 2008 is probably as awaited as was the Terracotta Army, where people were lining to get the tickets.
The British Museum in London is a must for a history lover and is strongly recommended for those who are curious about the ancient civilizations.
